Mexico Poems
All Fall the virgin went from house to house
La guadalupana
Empress Carlota
Guavas,
I am my pretendiente
I hate the vapid taste of limas
If I were a fruit I would be choconostle, take it from me it's delicious.
Last night the full moon was in eclipse.
Paranoía
To my new pastor
Viacrucis
About sweeping the floor.
If I were a fruit I would be choconostle, take it from me it's delicious.

If my baby was a fruit he'd be apple.
Full-skinned, perfect, patient, crisp and juicy.
If my father were a fruit he'd be a filbert.
Concentrated. Tangy to the sides of your tongue.
If my lover were a fruit he would be guava,
the tastiest of all, But not a good keeper; eat him fresh.

If my friend were a fruit she would be sugar cane
Pale green and tender and liquid.
If my mother were a fruit she would be an
Avacado, rich, elusive and mocking.
If my daughter were a fruit she would be
Coconut: tart, chewy, rich, flavourful
Refreshing, and packed to perfection.

Si sea fruta yo, sea choconostle, créeme Es delicioso.

Si mi niño sea fruta sea manzana:
Redondo, perfecto, paciente, fresco y jugoso.
Si mi papá sea fruta, sea avellana.
Concentrado.

Generosa, esquiva, burlona.
Si mi hija sea fruta sea coco;
Seca, enganchosa, onctuosa, saborosa,
Refrescante, y muy bién ebalada.
